When filled with the patented self-heating technology of Lava Gel®, Lava Shells® heat for up to 45-minutes, depending on the method of application, giving you the same heat as a full hot stone massage with just two shells – no electricity of equipment needed.


My husband and I both have bad backs. I especially have a bad back since having children. I have tried multiple over the counter products and have not found anything to relieve my achy back. My husband often wakes up to a stiff back and has to jump in the hot shower just to get some minor relief. When I received this in the mail I was excited to try this on my husband first to see how it worked. Once I applied the shell he did not want me to stop massaging his back. The Lava Shell gave him great relief and took away his aches and pains.

The Lava Shell came in the beautiful bag that you can see partially in the picture along with 1 BFE Exotic massaging oil, 1 Porcelain Lava Shell,  4 Lava Gel sachets, and 4 Lava Activators,  The Lava Gel comes in three different formulas.

• Home Use Blend – Mild charge for sensitive areas.
• Comfort Blend Medium Heat – Moderate heat for targeted work and full body massage.
• Comfort Blend High Heat – High heat for full body massage.

Step 1 ) open the Lava Shell on the back and use the Lava Gel sachet.

Remove Lava Gel sachet from packaging , fold corners loosely towards the center and place inside the shell. With one finger, flatten the sachet  against the bottom of the shell.

Step 2 Activator

Open Lava Activator package and pour contents into shell. Make sure sachet is resting against the bottom of the shell. Set shell aside and wait 5 minutes for activator to full absorb. If there is extra liquid that has not been fully absorbed, move sachet around until liquid is gone. Contends are non-toxic and safe. Place the cap on the shell and it is ready to be used.
Clean up

• Remove cap from shell
• Remove sachet in one piece using a swirling motion. If the sachet is in pieces, dump out the remaining and rinse inside shell with water
• Wash outside shell with water and anti-bacterial soap and water and rinse inside shell. Set aside to dry or use a cloth.

You can apply the Exotic oil to the area you want to use the shell on. The Lava Shell will get warmer as time goes on. Gently move the shell on the area that you want to massage. The shell will stay warm for 30-35 minutes.
The Verdict
I used this on my husband and it helped relieve the pain in his back. I found that the shell worked really well and better than any over the counter creams and ointments. After I used it on my husband I had him use it on my back and it was soothing and allows your muscles to relax. If you had a long day at work and your muscles are sore try the Lava Shell!
