Redken Rag & Bone Spring–Summer 2013

22
Redken Creative Consultant Guido kicked off the Fall/Winter 2012 season in New York yesterday with modern look that was almost two hairstyles in one. A sleek, slicked back front and exposed forehead gave way to a natural, girly textured look in the back.

"The identity of the Rag + Bone girl is clearer than ever, and this masculine-yet-feminine tomboy style is more defined than looks in past seasons. This soft-yet-tough style is a little beachy, calling to 90's minimalism. Having the forehead exposed makes for a dramatic look and adds structure as a way to update a textured, wavy look."

Create the Look:
Apply guts 10 root targeted volume spray foam to damp hair from roots to ends.
Rough dry hair with fingers for a textured finish using a Sultra Temptress dryer, raking hair back from the forehead as you dry.
Using a Sultra Buombshell Oval Curling Iron, create waves on the lower two-thirds of the hair.
Apply a generous amount of hardwear 16 super strong gel to the front 2-3 inches of hair, slicking back with fingers, leaving the forehead exposed.
Spray top third of style with forceful 23 super-strength finishing spray, concentrating on the crown, and use the blow-dryer once again on the front 2-3 inches of hair to really set the style.

  1. Not a fan of the manly slicked back look. Yikes, looks greasy and honestly I would laugh if I saw my friend with her hair like that.

  2. Hahah! You are funny. I am honestly not a fan either. However, I do think some can wear these different looks and have it look great on them. A lot of different products are supposed to give a wet look to them and those are not too bad.

    1. The products may be super good and I like the wet look, just not slicked back like that. Reminds me of the men in the movie Grease. It's kind of weird with the top looking all wet and the bottom is dry. Obviously I don't know anything about the fashion world and honestly, I'm kind of thankful. I would never go out in public like that, lol.

  4. Omg, i'm glad others shared their opinion, so now i feel it's ok to bash this. lol They want our opinions right? It looks like she washed part of her hair and left the top greasy for weeks :/ Who would think that's sexy? It's all slicked back like a mafia man, Blech! But thank you for the informative review. lol

  7. I love Redken products but always have to be cautious of what I use on my hair. It's already humid as heck here so I try to stay away from products that will make my hair flat. I dont think I can pull of the wet look!
